AUGUST HIGHLIGHTS
August’s special guest speaker was Mike Strain, DVM, Commissioner of Agriculture and Forestry for the State of Louisiana. Dr. Strain, a native of St. Tammany, spoke for 45 minutes to a packed audience of women business owners at Giddy Up, and then graciously stayed for an hour afterward networking until each person had their questions answered. Dr Strain offered his view of the state of agriculture nationally and how Louisiana fits in. We are blessed with the natural resources of fertile land, water, and forests, and it's in our best interests to use these resources well! He also mentioned the Indian Creek Park near Alexandria, as a wonderful place to visit, which is maintained by the Department of Agriculture. He discussed the Certified Louisiana program offered for local producers of home grown products! Women in Business thanks Dr. Strain for his most generous time with our community group.
