January CWiB Meeting Highlights

JANUARY HIGHLIGHTS
We introduced our first official breakfast sponsorship at the January meeting. Heidi Bowlsbey of IGY6 Motorsports provided a lovely fruit and pastry spread with delicious GiddyUp coffee. During the networking period she shared about the mission of this veteran-operated organization, helping veterans heal and thrive through motorsports activities. In our feature segment, Mechelle Penton of MP Accounting Solutions in Franklinton, LA, spoke about the importance of maintaining records to understand tax liability. She also shared strategies on how to track the financial health of a business. She named the profit and loss statement and the balance sheet as two of the most important reports to maintain, either via Quickbooks or other accounting software. She advised holding on to all receipts if these reports are not readily available. Mechelle was so kind to field the many questions from our group regarding tax liability and situation-specific accounting issues.
